Today we made our way up to Auburn to a little berry farm called Amber Oaks Farm and went blackberry picking. I haven't picked blackberries since I was kid so it was fun to get my hands dirty with blackberry juice. We went with our neighbors and the kids had so much fun together. They got to wear little wooden buckets around their waist to hold all their blackberries. They got to taste how incredibly yummy they are fresh off the vine. The first taste, Jason no doubt spit out and declared them to by "yucky". But after being convinced by Lauren and Anna that they were good, he proceeded to try a few more and thought they were pretty good after all. Little Isabella just quietly picked a bucketful and upon being done, wanted her hands washed because they were "dirty". We did have a great time being outdoors and picking berries. We'll have to try that again next year. And now to get home and see what yummy creations we can make with them!! Jason's request.....blackberry jam. Well we don't have quite enough for that but it sure does sound good. August 19, 2009
